Top 10 Best Ways To Eat A Potato

Image
So I grew up an Idaho boy.  I think just about every meal had some form of potato in it.  Even the milk we had delivered (I'm not that old, but did have milk delivered...) had potato flakes in it.  I can say potatoes are still one of my favorite sides and meals ever!  So thought I would list some of the best ways to cook and eat potatoes.  Although I may  have a hard time picking these! 10. Potato Chip Now I have never made home made potato chips, but I think I will sometime.  Potato chips are a go to snack and a tasty one at that!  There are just endless options and flavors for every pallet.  Although these are good, I don't consider them to satisfy the connoisseur of a great potato dish. At any rate, grab a bag of your favorite fried (or baked) little potato slices and enjoy! 9. Potato Salad Done right, this can be a tasty side for many BBQ or gathering.  The recipes are endless and the flavors sublime.  This is for s...

Nachos For A Rookie Or A Guru!

Image
So I love nachos and usually just pile stuff onto some chips and eat away.  But had some nachos at a restaurant that made each chip like a mini nacho tostada.  So I thought I would try to make some like it and I was not let down.  Here are my nacho adventures... Step 1 - Make Your Own Tortilla Chips I did this by taking corn tortillas from the grocery store, coating one side with canola oil and then cutting them into fourths.  I put some oil on a cookie sheet and arranged them on the sheet.  You can also sprinkle some salt on if desired. I did!   Then I baked them at 350 for like 10 mins or till they were crispy and brown. Step 2 - Put On The Hot Goods Now that the chips are toasted it's time to put on the tasty toppings.  First off I needed to make my beans.  I love some dehydrated beans I have for my food storage.  Just mix 1:1 ration of beans to water and heat.  Makes some tasty beans!...

Image
So I am no expert in cooking meat, but I am no rookie either.  I have learned a few things over the years and would like to share them.  This isn't a complete guide to cooking meat, just some tips I've picked up along the way... First things first, here are some pics of my cows that have since been added to my freezer.  Not everyone has the opportunity to raise their own meet, but I do and it is a great thing.  Although, sometimes its easier to just by it from the store... lol General Meat Cooking Tips Add some olive oil (or other preferred oil) to your marinade Let meat come to room temperature before cooking (especially for steaks) For tough cuts of meat cook low and slow (275 deg or less) Don't overcook your meat! Click Here to BBQ like the Pros! 1. Add Oil to Marinade Adding oil to a marinade does two things: 1) helps lock in moisture while cooking and 2) creates a nice caramelized exterior.  I prefer olive oil, but any oil...
