Fun Day Monday - Some Strange Animals
So I grew up watching a lot of science and discovery channel. What I learned is there are some strange animals in this word, so thought I would share some for fun.
Star-Nosed Mole
This thing looks like something straight out of a horror movie! This little dude is about the size of a hamster, but sure doesn't look like one! So what are those fleshy fingers on it's snout for? Well it has ~25,000 sensory receptors in it so it can feel it's way around. Guess living in the dark all the time you need some way to see... He has some pretty sweet claws too reminds me of the monsters from the movie "The Village". Maybe that is were they got the inspiration?
Tufted Deer
I don't know if I should try and eat this guy or run because he might eat me... Although this little guy is less than 3ft tall. So probably would make a cute pet, a good guard deer? Not sure what his fangs are for, but sure looks cool.

Naked Mole Rat
Well, guess this guy just gets to stay in his birthday suit for life. They pretty much live under ground and feed on tubers such as potatoes. Interestingly they can move forward or backwards just as fast. They dig with their teeth. So is it a mole or a rat...?

Blob Fish
Ummm, I think the name says it all. Almost looks like a person who has bloated and is now a melting blob. Maybe because they can live almost 1 mile under water. Some do eat these things, but I think I will pass.

Pink Fairy Armadillo
This is the smallest of the armadillo typically 3.5-4.5 in long. They are nocturnal burrowing critters that are sensitive to changing temperatures and soil quality. They mainly live on ants and larvae found under ground.

Tardigrade
This odd little thing is also known as the water bear or moss piglet. They only grow to about 0.02 in long, so best viewed with a microscope. They are super hardy animals and can survive under the most extreme environments.
Angora Rabbit
Did someone say haircut? Who needs sheep when you have this rabbit... lol I kinda want one now, I bet they are pretty snugly!

Amazonian Royal Flycatcher
This little guy comes equipped with a built in head piece. Guess he is trying to attract the ladies. Wish my hair could grow like that...

Sea Pig
I have pigs, but they sure don't look like this. They are a type of sea cucumber and feed on whatever organic particles they can extract from the mud deep in the sea.
