Fun Day Monday - Old Movies That Need A Good Remake

I love movies and I love some of the classics.  So thought it would be fun to list which ones I thought would be cool to make an awesome remake of.  Unfortunately some remakes are a flop and not done right.  But if they could be done right, these could be awesome!  So here are my Top Ten...

10. The Birds
This is an old "horror" movie that by today's standards is probably more of a comedy... lol  But I remember watching this as a kid and it freaked me out.  Every time I saw a bird sitting on a power line I thought that sucker was going to come peck my eyes out!  So I think with today's technology and new way of filming, they could actually make this pretty good!


9. Rocky
There are several Rocky movies and a good boxing movie is always a hit.  But this iconic film made everyone want to be a champ.  Such determination and will power to win.  If not a remake,  how about a modern Rocky movie with his son vs the son of Apollo Creed...?


8. Once Upon a Time in the West
Ok, I love me a good western.  Some of the older ones are a bit on the slow side, but still good movies.  However, this is one of the best.  I would love to see a modern version of this movie.  I am sure it would be anything but slow!


7. Groundhog Day
Ok, this could be someones dream, or someones worst nightmare.  Reliving the same day over and over again.  I guess it would depend on the day!  But this classic just made you sit back and wonder, what if?!  What would I do?  Well Punxsutawney Phil had plans for old Bill Murray. This could be a very fun remake!


6. ET
Well, there have been plenty of alien movies made and even remakes of some good ones like "The Day the Earth Stood Still".  So how about we bring back than little short creepy alien ET?  Remake phone home?


5. The Godfather
I'll make a remake he can't refuse... These series of films are a cult classic and for good reason.  They are pretty awesome!  But I think with today's movie standards, these could go above and beyond, but they would need to be careful because there is a following for these films and if not done right they would get an ear full!


4. Back to the Future
Great Scott!  These need to be redone!  I love these movies and recently made my kids watch them to be educated on classic films... LOL They are still funny and entertaining, but would love to see a modern version of these films!



3. Flight of the Navigator
I am not sure this was a huge film, but as a kid I loved this movie about a young boy flying a space ship around only to find out he basically time traveled or time delayed and now has to get back in time...  If you haven't seen it, go watch it!  Its a classic and would be awesome to see with modern day special effects and filming!


2. The Princess Bride
"As you wish...." To remake this film would take a great deal of care to get it right.  Such hidden humor and wit in this old classic.  If done wrong would totally flop, but if done right it would go big!


1. Adventures In Babysitting
Ok, I saved this one for my number one!  This old movie is so hilarious and great! I have seen this had some remake done in 2016, but haven't seen it and doubt it is any good.  Would need to get some good funding behind it to do it justice, but man it could be funny!

On May 10th, 1869, the race to complete the great transcontinental railroad came to an end with a golden spike.  In three long and difficult years, the two companies, Union Pacific and Central Pacific laid nearly 2000 miles of track ultimately meeting in Promontory, Utah. It was known there was a need for this railroad since 1832, but challenges arose in congressional funding and the civil war.  In 1853, congress finally approved funds to survey the land.  However, with the rising tensions from the North and South, progress was slow going.  It wasn't until 1862, one year into the civil war that a Republican-controlled Congress passed the Pacific Railroad Act, which guaranteed public land grants and loans to the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific railroad companies. Flashback Friday - 1962: 1st US Spacecraft Fly-By Of Another Planet (Venus)

On this day December 14th 1962, a US made spacecraft called the Mariner 2 had finally arrived at it's long awaited destination Venus.  The Mariner 2 had launched on August 27th 1962, so it took just a little over 3 months to arrive. Before the Mariner 2 was successful, the Mariner 1 had to be self detonated only 5 mins after takeoff (July 22, 1962) due to it veering off course from a SW glitch.  They were able to correct that issue in the code and use other learnings to make Mariner 2 a success.  Although there were a few hiccups and course corrections through it's flight to Venus, it was able to recover from all of them and hit its mark. Flashback Friday - 1838 First Public Demonstration Of The Telegraph

Today, is an endless vortex of communications.  We have land lines, fax machines, cell phones, texting, Skype, Facetime, satellites and streaming media to name a few.  But it all started with some wire and an idea.  Almost 200 years ago Samuel Morse gave his first public demonstration of the telegraph on January 11th 1838. Source: Wikipedia Samuel Morse invented and patented the Telegraph in 1837.  He came up with the concept and code known as Morse Code to be able to send messages over a wire with electricity.  He encoded the alphabet and numbers with dots and dashes that could then be sent with one telegraph key and received by another.
